A family farm on Westham Island. An architectural studio in Ladner Village. A manufacturer producing precision parts. A creative business helping other companies communicate. A community organization helping children participate in sport.
They serve different customers and meet different needs, but all five appear on the finalist list for this year’s Delta Business Excellence Awards.
The Delta Chamber of Commerce’s 75th Annual Business Excellence Awards Gala takes place Friday, October 16, at Tsawwassen Springs, presented by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority. Ahead of the event, several finalists offer an opportunity to look more closely at the businesses and organizations serving our community. Delta Chamber of Commerce
At 2727 Westham Island Road, Emma Lea Farms connects customers directly with agricultural land and the food it produces.
The farm’s history stretches back to 1885, when Joseph and Emma Tamboline began the family’s farming story. Today, its offerings include seasonal U-pick and already-picked berries, local produce and farm-store products, alongside an ice cream shop. Availability changes with the season. Emma Lea Farms
For residents, it offers a place to buy food and experience a working farm. For other business owners, its combination of agricultural production and customer-facing activities provides an example of how one operation can serve several needs.
The family history also brings a longer perspective to this year’s awards: business development can involve carrying an established enterprise into another generation.
Some businesses are visible through their storefronts. Others become visible through the work they create.
BÜRO47 Architecture Inc. describes its base as the heart of Ladner Village. Its portfolio spans residential, commercial and industrial projects, with an emphasis on collaboration and sustainable building practices. buro47.com
An architectural practice serves homeowners, businesses and project teams whose needs extend well beyond a single purchase. Its work brings design expertise into decisions about how buildings function and how people use them.
BÜRO47’s presence also illustrates that a village business district can accommodate professional services alongside shops, restaurants and cafés.
Manterra Technologies Inc. represents a part of Delta’s economy that residents may encounter less directly.
The Delta company specializes in producing injection-moulded plastic parts and products. Its website identifies quality certifications supporting work in general manufacturing, medical and automotive applications. manterra.com
This is business-to-business activity: manufacturing components that other companies need for their products.
Manterra also advertises a Production Innovation Accelerator intended to help established companies and emerging hardware businesses move towards larger-scale production. The program offers manufacturing advice and potential co-location at its Delta facility. manterra.com
That provides another route for business development—connecting a product idea with the engineering and equipment needed to manufacture it.
A business may have a strong product or service and still need help explaining what makes it useful.
Indalma Creative Inc. provides branding and graphic design services. Its published offerings include brand development, websites, print and digital design, and social media strategy. The studio says it has worked with businesses and organizations across British Columbia since 2004. Branding and graphic design studio
These services support other businesses as they introduce themselves, update their identity or reach customers.
Its inclusion among the finalists highlights the role of creative work within the wider business community: helping an enterprise present its services clearly is itself a business.
The awards also recognize organizations whose work centres on access and participation.
KidSport Delta helps eligible families cover children’s sport registration costs. Its current chapter information lists grants of up to $500 per child per calendar year, for children aged 18 and under living in Delta. The organization says funds raised locally remain in the community. KidSport Delta
For a family facing financial barriers, registration assistance can help make a season of sport possible. This places community contribution alongside commercial activity in the awards program.

These are selected finalists, rather than the complete list. They have not been presented here as award winners. Delta Chamber of Commerce
Finalist status is recognition within the Chamber’s awards program. It does not, by itself, establish a company’s financial performance, customer satisfaction or the reasons judges selected it.
Those details would require closer reporting and conversations with the businesses themselves.
For now, these five introductions give readers a broader view of local enterprise—from growing food and designing buildings to manufacturing products, communicating with customers and supporting children.
The October 16 gala is listed as sold out, with the event scheduled from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. Readers can find the complete finalist list on the Delta Chamber’s event page. Delta Chamber of Commerce
